Fulfilling the God-mandate

The God-mandate

It is very important to know that being a child of God is not just about spiritual things but about making an impact on everything around you; both physical and spiritual. As a child of God, faith is a tool to reach for the seemingly unreachable including fulfilling your biggest dreams that may look overwhelming to you. the true gospel is the one that teaches us to be fruitful on earth while expecting to reign with Christ in heaven.

I strongly believe that God did not put us on earth to struggle through or just manage to survive. God put us on earth to be a worthy representative to Him; showing forth His glory in our lives daily. We are expected to be an attraction that draws people to God. Isaiah 43:21 is a pointer to this. We are formed to show forth His praise. How then can we show forth the praise of God? It is by being a light to those in darkness, it is by fulfilling our God-given destinies, and it is by making sure we succeed in every area of our lives.

Imagine seeing the CEO of a multinational corporation preaching Christ to you on the street: what would come to your mind? First of all, I believe you will be in awe, wondering why such a successful CEO would be on the street saying Jesus loves you. The second thing that may come to mind is if he has everything, why is he still serving God? That notion alone would be a challenge to whoever sees him preaching Jesus with all his successes.

God doesn’t want us to fail but rather succeed so that we can show to others how beautiful it is to serve God. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. Most children of God nowadays are really not living up to that (being successful in the contemporary world).

God has blessed us with all spiritual blessings so that we can manifest great works.

The truth

People will not see God until you let God show through you. If you go back to read the parable of the good Samaritan in Luke 10:30-37, you will understand better the concept of the God-mandate this post is all about. God put us on this earth to show the world what it means to know God. That being said, if we have nothing to give, how then do we influence our world?

No one can say they love God if they have not loved the people God has placed around them; their families, friends, neighbors, colleagues, teammates, etc. 1 John 3:17. We extend God’s love by showing to others what it means to love and know God by our deeds, our hands of help to those who need it around us.

The God-mandate is a call for us to be achievers, lovers of God and man: we are expected as children of God to bear great fruits that abide and most importantly, make the kingdom of God spread on this earth. We are ambassadors of Christ (God) on earth. Matthew 5:16.

Why the complexity?

Sometimes I do wonder why we make things so complex for ourselves in the Christiandom? I mean, Christ came and died for us to have life and have it abundantly. That is the gospel, that’s all Jesus asked for us to do, make disciples of men for Him. Our main duty is to share this truth and show the love of God to people in order to draw them to God. What we see now are congregations everywhere. Many pastors and teachers come up with one doctrine or the other, Christians fighting each other over who is preaching the truth or preaching heresy. Some take it as if they own the Church; it is Christ who died for the church.

There is nothing complex about the truth; it is either the truth or nothing else. What then is the truth? John 3:16-17, “for God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved” (KJV).

This, above, is the absolute truth. If we all can stay focused on this matter we will fulfill the God-mandate. Jesus came so that we can have a better life than we had without Him. He came to save us and to show us how to live. We need to put our strength towards being better people to one another, better flag bearers to the Gospel of Christ.

Congregations, denominations; be it Catholic, Protestants, Pentecostals, etc: all are creations of men (yes, we need them for fellowship, accountability, and structure). The aim should not be to divide us but to group us together for unity, oneness, and love.

The goal

God needs His people in the banking industry, manufacturing, the lawmakers, government officials, doctors, nurses, everyone called by the name of God in their various walks of life to proclaim His Lordship where they are. Let the world see the light through you. Let them know you believe in God even if you are a lawyer or doctor or an engineer. whether you are in the fashion, movie industry, or cosmetics industry; you can shine the light right there. God wants you to prosper and show forth His glory while you remain relevant in your industry. God is not happy when we fail as individuals and He is definitely not happy when we fail in His mandate.

When you meet people, let them see God through you. Be God’s ambassador everywhere you are. Let the newcomers and new converts in Church see God through you. You are the one they see first before experiencing God, don’t disappoint them and God. Your duty this Sunday may be to just smile while welcoming people to Church, do it well and let God be glorified.

If you are a preacher, preach Jesus and less of your achievements or acquisitions, do not seek to impress people or those you consider as competitions. There is no competition in God, everyone is running a race to heaven and will only be judged based on what God has given you to do, you and your calling are the only things you need to worry about. You can share testimonies that give glory to God and draw men to God with your congregation and those God gave you to lead: do not make your preaching about you. Consciously direct people to God every time you have the opportunity to. Seek only to please God.

Let us represent God well wherever we may find ourselves. Set aside differences and every dot of prejudice against anyone, age, race, tribe, or tongue. Love everyone, forgive every time, remain humble, always speak about Jesus to those who don’t know Him. Teach the truth as is. Seek to be the best you can be; a superstar athlete, actor, designer, engineer, professor, lawyer, politician. Only make sure you let God show through you. Daniel 11:32b.

May God bless each and every one of us in Jesus’ name.

Jesus is Lord.
